Finally! Top Bush Officials to be Indicted for Torture

Dear Alberto Gonzalez and all your little criminal friends:

You should know about Justice. After all, you were Attorney General of the Bush Justice Department. Or was that the Injustice Department? Well, lookee here, some justice is coming your way.

From The Daily Beast:

Spanish prosecutors will seek criminal charges against Alberto Gonzales and five high-ranking Bush administration officials for sanctioning torture at Guantánamo. By Scott Horton.

Spanish prosecutors have decided to press forward with a criminal investigation targeting former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and five top associates over their role in the torture of five Spanish citizens held at Guantánamo, several reliable sources close to the investigation have told The Daily Beast. Their decision is expected to be announced on Tuesday before the Spanish central criminal court, the Audencia Nacional, in Madrid. But the decision is likely to raise concerns with the human-rights community on other points: They will seek to have the case referred to a different judge.

Wonderful news. Too bad we Americans had to let it to a foreign country to mete out justice. What's wrong with American Justice? Plenty, I am afraid.

Regards,

I think as AG Holder put it... We are a nation of COWARDS.. we are afraid to face ourselves.. what we have done, what we allowed to happen, what we should do about it, and what we need to do to correct it.

Most people expect Pres. Obama to just FIX IT, and it is really not his place to do it. It should come from Congress or the AG's department, yet neither of them seem able to step up and do their job. I have two posts up pertaining to those very things.

Maybe if Spain does do this it will get our Congress and our AG in gear to do something.

Spain told Obama they would hold off if the U.S. would initiate an investigation. The U.S. did not reply

But as for COWARDS, whaddaya mean? The Congress impeached Bill Clinton, didn't they? Spent hundreds of millions of dollars to do it, too. That showed they were serious about impeachment.

Now as for torture and secret prisons and illegal war and all, none of that is nearly as serious as a little ol' cheating on your wife with an intern. And Congress proved it, with their Articles of Impeachment.

So there.

No it was mostly REPUBLICAN Thugs who impeached Clinton..

As for us being Cowards... if 62% of the people want some kind of punishment for Bush & Co, then why is there not more out cry for a hearing, a special prosecutor, a commission, a whatever.. they can't even get enough signatures on a petition anywhere to bring it up. The other day when I checked Sen. Leahy only had 80,000 signatures on his petition and couldn't get one not one single Republican member of Congress to sign on to his Truth Commission, so he has back burnered it.

So, if 62% of the people want something.. where are they?? They want it but don't want to stand up in public and really say something. They are cowards.
